Every app below was probed with a real dictation on 28 August 2026. When an app cannot take the text, your words are kept in History, and Simply Speak tells you rather than failing quietly.

Why the list is short
Because it is the list of apps someone actually sat and watched, one at a time. Most Mac apps take dictation the same two ways these do, so an app that is missing here is far more likely to work than not. It has simply not been proven yet, and a claim nobody checked is worth nothing.
Apps behind a sign-in wall on the test machine, Goodnotes, Canva and Notability among them, are waiting on an account before they can be tested honestly.
Two places are deliberately excluded: Finder and the Dock. Pressing paste there moves files, not words, so Simply Speak refuses and keeps your text on the clipboard and in History instead.
An app you need is missing
Try it. If the words do not appear, they are still in History, and nothing is lost. Tell us which app it was and it goes on the test bench.
